Ann Lee "Grammie" Mertens, 92, of North Little Rock passed away Tuesday, August 9, 2016. She was born January 17, 1924 in Marlow, Oklahoma to George and Georgie Trimble Hall. She was a member of Baring Cross Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Sanford V. "Red" Mertens; two daughters, Mary Theresa Rogers and Debbie Williams; siblings, Jack Hall, Robert Hall and Juanita "Tommie" Ruth and grandson, Tony Rogers. She is survived by her granddaughter (whom she raised), Michael Ann Galloway (Dr. Randy Galloway); grandsons, Aaron and Clayton Williams; great-grandsons, Hunter and Micah Galloway; great-granddaughters, Eme Wylie and Anna Rogers; other extended family; special friends, Sybol Johnston, Bert Young, the Kulbeth family, the Travis family, her church family and many others. Her greatest joy was giving to and praying for others; her greatest saying was "Can I fix you something to eat?"; her greatest gift was her time and attention; her greatest peace was her faith; her greatest love was her family and friends; her greatest passions were flower gardening, estate and yard sales, gospel and country music and playing cards; and her greatest blessing received was the gift of eternal life. She was "one-in-a-million" and will be greatly missed by all. "Love You First!" Memorials may be made to Baring Cross Baptist Church, 7541 Warden Road, Sherwood, Arkansas 72120. A visitation will be held from 1 to 2 p.m., Saturday, August 13th followed by a funeral service at 2 p.m., at Smith – North Little Rock Funeral Home.
