Herman Wharton, 93, of Vilonia went to be with his Savior Thursday, August 11, 2016. He was born Saturday, March 17, 1923 in Vilonia, to Marcus Mitchell and Ina Belle Wharton. Herman was a loving husband and father and loved spending time with his family. He was employed at Camp Robinson early in life and became a Farmer which he loved. Herman was a lifelong member of Landmark Missionary Baptist Church. He is survived by his two daughters, Joyce Goff, and Shirley (Sam) Rutherford; seven grandchildren, Karen Miller (Ron), Greg Blakenship (Heather), Pam St. Clair (Dan), Robert Goff (Sally), Lisa Fullerton (Dean), Amy Rutherford, and Katie Rutherford; 17 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; Tommy Baker, also many nieces, nephews, family and friends. Herman is preceded in death by his wife of 73 years, Iva Marie Wharton, parents, daughter, Alice (Wharton) Baker; brother, Vernon Wharton; sisters, Ethel Wharton, Donnie McCarn, and Ruth Robinson. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Mary his nurse and Brother Ted the Chaplain from Hospice Care for her wonderful care. Also, thanks to Cecelia Mitts, Lena Goode, Mistie Pickle, Sandra Harris, and Carol Burns who were excellent caregivers for the family. Services will be held Saturday August 13, 2016 at 2 p.m. at Landmark Missionary Baptist Church in Vilonia with Visitation at 1 p.m.at the Church.
