Chief Master Sergeant Kenneth James (Jimmy) Evans, ANG(Ret.), 66, of Jacksonville died on August 16, 2016. Chief Evans was born December 29, 1949 in Little Rock. He grew up in the Jacksonville/Cabot area, graduated Jacksonville High School in 1967 and attended the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. The Chief later earned an Associate's Degree in Aircraft Maintenance Management. Chief Evans served in the Arkansas Air National Guard for 33 years and worked as a full-time Guardsman for the last 27. When he retired due to illness in 2002, he was Aircraft Manager for the 189th Airlift Wing at Little Rock air Force Base and his full-time position was Aircraft Production Control Supervisor with the 189th Logistics Group. During his career, he received numerous awards and recognitions to include the Air Force Meritorious Service Medal, the Air Force Commendation Medal with two oak leaf clusters, the Arkansas Distinguished Service Medal, the Arkansas Commendation Medal and the Arkansas Achievement Medal. In 1992 he graduated from US Air Force Senior NCO Academy as a Distinguished Graduate. Chief Evans was a member of the Air Force Association, the Air Force Sergeants Association and the Enlisted Association of the National Guard. The Chief was a charter member and served as an officer for the 189th A W Chief's Group for many years. He also served on the National Board of directors of the NCO Academy Graduate association for 8 years prior to his retirement. Chief Evans was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth H. and Mary L. Evans. He is survived by his beloved wife, Judy (Panell) Evans of Jacksonville; daughters; Kimberly (Evans) Vincent of Vilonia and Tonya (Evans) Cox of Beebe, his grandchildren; Brandy Seymore (Brody) and Hunter Brady of Vilonia; Ambria Cox of Bebee; his great-grandchildren; Brady and Bryar Seymore of Vilonia; sister and brother-in-law, Sandra and Sherman Fulmer of Jacksonville; brother; Dennis Evans (Vestal) of Mabelvale; and his extended family of nieces, nephews, step-sons, and step-grandchildren. Visitation will be 11 a.m. until 1 p.m., Friday, August 19, 2016 at McArthur Assembly of God Church in Jacksonville, funeral service will begin at 1 p.m. Honorary Pallbearers are the members of the Chief's Group, 189th Airlift Wing, LRAFB.
