Arthur Joseph Smith Jr.

ARTHUR JOSEPH SMITH JR., age 78, passed peacefully from this earth into the loving arms of Jesus on Tuesday, Aug. 16, 2016, after a long fight with heart and liver disease. He was born March 18, 1938, in Davenport, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur Joseph Smith and Alice Collins Smith; brother, Kennith Smith and granddaughter, Jessica Bickmore. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Smith; son, Patrick Smith; daughter, Linda Forde; four precious and beloved children by marriage: son, Ashley Bickmore and wife, Ruby; son, George Bickmore; daughter, Terry Holliday and husband, Mark; son, Shane Bickmore and wife, Desiree; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; three sisters, Alice Ott, Arlene McKee, Mary Johnston and many loved nephews and nieces. Mr. Smith proudly served in the United States Air Force for 20 years with two tours of duty in Thailand. He was a member of Cross Roads Free Will Baptist Church and was a Bible Study teacher for 40 years. Services will be held Monday, Aug. 22, 2016 at 9 a.m., in the Chapel of Roller-Owens Funeral Home, 5509 John F. Kennedy Blvd., North Little Rock, Ark. 72116 (501-791-7400).
