Mae Ree Goetz

Mae Ree Harris Goetz passed away on August 20, 2016 at the age of 89. She was born June 2, 1927 in Stuttgart, Ark., to Ward N. and Ilma Rosencrantz Harris. Mae Ree is survived by her son Randy Goetz and his wife, Becky Elslander Goetz of Stuttgart; her sister, June Wilson (Ray) of Mesa, Ariz.; and her brother, John Joe Harris (Karen) of Sun City, Ariz.; sisters in law, Ruth Snotzmeier of Stuttgart and Phyllis Wittman (Max) of Hot Springs. She had many nieces, nephews, and treasured friends whom she loved. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harold Leon Goetz; her sisters, Ovita Sue Harris Gardner and Becky Harris; and her brother, Ward Harris. Mae Ree graduated from Stuttgart High School and Arkansas State Teachers College, now the University of Central Arkansas. She was a member of Sigma Sigma Sigma sorority, Delta Kappa Gamma, a member of the Fine Arts Club, Grand Prairie Chapter of the DAR. She taught English and Journalism at Stuttgart High School. She also taught at the Stillwell School at Lodge Corner. She was a member of Grand Avenue United Methodist Church and Lodge Corner United Methodist Church. Mae Ree never met a stranger, she loved going to dances with Harold, traveling, star gazing and telling anyone who would listen about the galaxy and constellations, she loved bird watching. She was a devoted farmer's wife and she and Harold traveled to many Farm Bureau conventions. Mae Ree and her sorority sisters got together every year for reunions.
