Forrest Ray Hunter

Forrest Ray Hunter, 79, of Cabot, died Saturday, August 13, 2016. He was born June 25, 1937 to the late Sterling G. Hunter and Reatha L. Bolden Hunter. Forrest served with the United States Army as a paratrooper with the 101st Airborne Division "Screaming Eagles", where he completed hundreds of jumps. He later joined the United States Air Force where he retired after 23½ years of service. He played dobro with the Garth Travis Bluegrass Band, was an avid golfer, and enjoyed hunting and fishing. Forrest loved his family, and was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather. He treated everyone he knew as family, and was a friend to all. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister, Mabel Howard. He is survived by his wife, Sally Mae Hunter; sons, Sterling E. Hunter and wife Robin of Fredricksburg, Va., and Gregory C. Hunter and wife Freda of Ward; brother, Billy Gene Hunter and wife Sandi of Mexico, and Zene Morgan and husband Paul of Plainwell, Michigan; and five grandchildren, Christopher Daniel Hunter of Ward; Catherine Elizabeth Perez and husband Erik of Cabot; and Sterling Eugene Jr., Robert Joseph, and Kathleen Elizabeth Hunter, of Fredericksburg, Va. Graveside service will be Friday, August 26, 2016 at 11 a.m. at Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery. Donations may be made to the Gary Sinise Foundation at www.garysinisefoundation.org/donate.
