Gertha Perry Richard 90, born in Little Rock, March 17, 1926, passed away on August 22, 2016. Mrs. Richard was a graduate of Dunbar High School, Class of 1944 and Dunbar Junior College, Class of 1946. She was a beloved wife, mother and grandmother, a member of St Peter's Rock Baptist Church for over 60 years and until her health failed, a devoted member of the Evergreen Club. Mrs. Richard loved gardening, African Violets were her specialty. She is preceded in death by her parents, Julius Perry, Sr. and Tiney Perry Scribner; her husband of 47 years, Ernest Lee Richard; and two siblings Mamie Louise Herndon and Julius Perry Jr. Mrs. Richard is survived by her sister, Irma (Ray) Farr of Detroit, Mich.; four children, Edward (Harriette) Richard, of Charlotte, N.C., Carolyn (Jodie) Carter, Marilyn Bostic and Rodney (Mia) Richard, all of Little Rock. She is also survived by eight grandchildren, Renette (Paul, III) Rier of Atlanta, Ga., Steven (Tiffiney) Carter of Houston, Texas, Camille Richard of Atlanta, Ga., Kailyn Bostic, Raven Richard of Little Rock, Perrin Bostic of Atlanta, Ga., Chase Richard and Miles Richard of Little Rock. In addition, she is survived by two great-grandsons: Chandler S. Carter of Houston, Texas and Paul Rier IV of Atlanta, Ga.; three sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and numerous other relatives and friends. Mrs. Richard will be fondly remembered by all who knew her as a loving, caring homemaker with a warm heart and an outspoken personality. Her children and grandchildren will miss her cooking and her love for celebrating the holidays. Services are entrusted to Ruffin and Jarrett Funeral Home, 1200 S. Chester St., LR, Ark. (501) 372-1305. Family hour on Friday, August 26th, 7:30-8:30 p.m., at Ruffin & Jarrett. Funeral services are Saturday, August 27th, 12 noon, at St Peters Rock Baptist Church, 22nd and Brown Street, Little Rock, Ark.
