Joyce O. Jenkins

Dr. Joyce O. Jenkins, age 67, passed away on August 18, 2016. She was born in Hollandale, Miss. to the late Percy and Mary Jenkins of Glen Allan, Mississippi who preceded her in death. She graduated from Glen Allan High School. She received her Bachelor's of Science degree from the University of Mississippi, and her Ph.D. from Bowling Green State University in Ohio. At the time of her death, Dr. Jenkins was employed at Arkansas Baptist College as the Director of Faculty Development and the Center for Teacher and eLearning. She was previously the Vice President of Academic Affairs at the college. Before her employment at Arkansas Baptist College, Dr. Jenkins was employed at Fort Valley State University as the chair of the English and Foreign Languages Department for 26 years. Before joining Fort Valley State University, Dr. Jenkins worked at Alcorn State University in Mississippi as the Department Head of English for five years. Dr. Jenkins was an active member at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church in Little Rock. She was an active member of The Links, Inc. She is survived by her brothers, Lionel (Mary) Jenkins of Little Rock, Ark., and Larry Jenkins of Glen Allan, Miss., nieces, Krista Agee (Cary) of McDonough, Ga., Kim Jenkins of Little Rock, Ark., her nephew, Larry Jenkins, Jr.(Ashley) of Warner Robins, Ga., her great-niece, Kayla Davie of Little Rock, Ark., and her great-great-nephew, Ronan Johnson of Little Rock, Ark. and a host of other family and friends. The family hour will be held at Redmon Funeral Home located at 442 N. Broadway St. in Greenville, Miss. on Friday, August 26th at 6 p.m. (662-335-8116). Funeral services will be held at Vessels of Mercy Church located at 712 McAllister St. in Greenville, Miss. on Saturday, August 27th at 11 a.m. Condolences may be sent to Lionel Jenkins at 1810 S.
