Carolyn Roughton, 72, of Bella Vista went to be with her Lord and Savior Saturday, August 20. She was born January 2, 1944 in Rogers to Raymond and Edna (Wells) Robbins. She grew up in Lowell, moved to Rogers in 1962, and lived there until 2005, when she moved to Bella Vista. She was preceded in death by her parents and her grandparents, Harvey and Jessie (Burch) Robbins and Charley and Emma (Lane) Wells, all of Lowell. Carolyn made her profession of faith in Christ in 1953 at the age of 9 and became a member of First Baptist Church of Cave Springs until 1962. She then became a member of Immanuel Baptist Church in Rogers and worked in the children's ministry for over 40 years. In 2008 she became a member of Bella Vista Baptist Church where she was active in the prayer ministry. One of her greatest joys was teaching elementary-age children in Sunday school. She also enjoyed reading, traveling, gardening, decorating and, most of all, spending time with her three grandsons. Carolyn graduated as Salutatorian of the class of 1961 of Rogers High School. She attended the University of Arkansas majoring in business administration. She worked as administrative assistant to the Harris brothers at First National Bank in Rogers for several years in the 1960's. She joined Avon Products Inc. as a sales representative in 1972 and was promoted to District Sales Manager of Benton County in 1979, holding that position for 25 years and retiring in 2004. She had many accomplishments with Avon. The Benton County district was recognized as one of the most outstanding districts in the United States. In addition to her role as District Manager, she served on many Avon focus groups and panels, working in the New York home office in 1993. She achieved Circle of Excellence 7 times earning trips to Hawaii, Japan, France, Monte Carlo, Spain, Germany and Belgium. The Benton County District was first in Arkansas to achieve Million Dollar status. She loved and respected her representatives, and thought of them as family. She is survived by her husband, Stephen James "Steve" Roughton of the home, to whom she married was on June 2, 1962 at Immanuel Baptist Church in Rogers; her daughter and son-in-law, Rhonda and Aaron Weidman of Rogers; her grandsons, Ryan Stephen Wood, Jeffrey Jackson Wood and Bryce James Wood of Rogers; her sister, June Windham and husband Rick and her nephew, Matthew Windham of Springdale. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m., Friday, August 26 in the Stateroom of Rollins Funeral Home in Rogers and a Celebrating of Carolyn's life will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Bella Vista Baptist Church in Bella Vista with Pastor Mike McCauley officiating. Carolyn will be laid to rest beside her parents and grandparents in Silent Grove Cemetery on Silent Grove Rd in Springdale.
