Rubye Lee Carter Glaze, of Camden, died Monday, December 5, 2016 at Silver Oaks Health and Rehabilitation Center after a short illness. She was born in Banks, Arkansas. Rubye was preceded in death by the love of her life, her husband of 60 years, Foard A. Glaze; her parents, John and Mattie Carter; her son, Mikey; and five sisters, Ella Mae Finley, Lillie Mann, Sudye Johnson, Nealie Crawford, and Dean Dunn. She is survived by her sons, David Glaze of Little Rock, and Daniel Glaze (Christy) of Camden; her grandchildren, Seth (Dona) Glaze of Sheridan, Dru Glaze of Fayetteville, and Bobby (Lauren) Glaze of Camden; great-grandchildren, Jaycie and Mattie, and numerous nephews and nieces. Some of her happiest moments were when her grandchildren (and grand-dogs) were visiting her. Rubye will be remembered for her beautiful sewing skills, especially those hard-to-tackle alterations of both women's and men's clothing. She and Foard owned and operated Perfection Cleaners and Laundry in Camden for many years, and her sewing artistry was a big part of their business there as well. She was an excellent cook, and her family prized her cherry pies, other baked goods, and cornbread dressing. She encouraged the love of cooking in both of her sons. She was always happy when she was outdoors working in her flower garden, and enjoyed her creative side, such as crafting beautifully lacquered Easter eggs and beaded Christmas ornaments. Rubye was a long-time member of First Baptist Church of Camden, where many years ago she and Foard helped in caring for the nursery-aged children. She loved her church and in her later years was saddened when she was no longer able to attend because of declining health. Danny, David and her family will receive friends beginning at 10 a.m. on Thursday, December 8, at First Baptist Church, followed by a Celebration of Life at 11 a.m. The service will be officiated by Rev. Casey Hough. Interment will follow the service at Greenwood Cemetery. Memorials can be made to Camden's First Baptist Church. Please visit www.proctorfuneralhome.com to sign the online register. Rubye Glaze excelled in loving her family as a wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and as a trusted, caring and loyal friend to so many. She was a truly fine example to us all on how we should lead our lives. She will truly be missed by those who were blessed to travel her earthly journey with her.
