William Horace "Bill" Smreker

William Horace "Bill" Smreker, 69, of Raleigh, N.C., formerly from Fort Smith, Ark., passed away on Dec. 10, 2016 in Raleigh, N.C. He fought a very brave battle for many years with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma due to exposure to Agent Orange. He served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. Bill was an avid duck hunter, golfer and fisherman and enjoyed the final months of his life fishing on Falls Lake in Raleigh with new fishing friends. He is survived by his wife, Nancy Hudson Smreker of Raleigh, N.C.; two sons, Kevin Smreker of Springdale, Ark. and Scott Smreker and wife, Tonya, of Conway, Ark.; two step-daughters, Kristy Pryor of Little Rock, Ark. and Elizabeth Waguespack and husband Matthew of Raleigh, N.C.; one brother, Charles Smreker and wife Mary of Austin, Texas; two sisters, Stevie Locke and husband George of Fort Smith and Nancy Speer of Little Rock, Ark.; grandchildren, Blake and Ashley Smreker of Springdale, Ark.; three nieces, Leslie Reese and Kristin Kitchens and husband Terry of Fort Smith and Stacey Rinehart and husband David of Alma, Ark.; three nephews, Brian Stouffer of Muldrow, Okla. and Joe Y. Smreker Jr. of San Antonio, Texas and David Oteri of Alexandria, La.; and a special uncle and friend, Charles Young of Hot Springs, Ark. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Joe M. and Billye Young Smreker; and his brother, Joseph Y. Smreker. Graveside service will be on Dec. 15 at 1 p.m at the U. S. National Cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home with the Reverend Tom Ulrich officiating.
