Charles Shell

Charles Shell, Pine Bluff native and retired financial analyst for the City of Seattle Engineering Department, died October 17 at Seattle's Virginia Mason Hospital from non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. Born August 9, 1943, Charlie was a former Air Force courier, member of the Alumni Committee of the Leadership Tomorrow Program, board member of Seattle's Intiman Theater, and president emeritus of the Seattle Repertory Jazz Orchestra. He was an accomplished wood turner and an award-winning bread baker. He is beloved by his family, friends, and neighbors. He will be remembered for his quick wit, dry humor and numerous passions ranging from the arts to travel to the friendships he made during his life. He is survived by his first cousin, James Benson of Commerce City, Colo., second cousin James R. Carraway of Sun City, Ariz. and several second cousins once removed. A memorial service was held Saturday, November 19 at the Sunset Hill Community Club, Seattle. He will be laid to rest at Faith Lutheran Church Memorial Garden in Hot Springs Village, Ark.
