David Joe Tolbert, 82, of Star City, Ark., went to be with the Lord and Savior on December 12, 2016. He was born January 12, 1934 to Lula Pearl and William Thomas Tolbert in Hillsboro, Ala. He was a member of Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church at Palmyra. Joe was an electrician for over 50 years. He loved his family, friends, church, working in the garden and working in his flower beds, but above all, he loved God. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Louise Huddleston; brothers, Grayson, Burkett, Carl, Buford and Homer Tolbert; and grandson, Bradley Adams. He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Valeda Tolbert; son, Russell (Maria) Tolbert of St. George, Utah; two daughters, Suzanne (Randall) Halliburton of Lonoke and JoAnn (William) Adams of DeWitt; sister, LaVelle Moore of Cabot; three grandchildren; one step-grandchild; seven great-grandchildren and four step-great-grandchildren. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be Thursday, December 15, 2016 at 10 a.m. at Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church in Palmyra with Bro. John Marlar officiating. Visitation will be from 9-10 a.m., Thursday at the church. Burial with a short graveside service will be at Forks LaGrue Cemetery in DeWitt, Ark. at 2:30 p.m. Arrangements by Griffin Funeral Service in Star City.
