Margaret Ann Millar

Margaret Ann Woods Millar, 89, died at her home on Wednesday, December 14, 2016. She was born in Little Rock, Ark., on August 30, 1927, the only child of Ida (Guile) and John Michael Woods. She was a graduate of Little Rock Junior College and Hendrix College. She married Paul Harwood Millar Jr., on September 4, 1948. After working at the Little Rock Public Library for several years, she moved to Stuttgart in 1957 and worked tirelessly to ensure that Stuttgart's library was an asset to the city. She helped develop a children's story hour and served on the Stuttgart library board for many years, serving as secretary and later as chair. She was a Girl Scout leader, a member of First United Methodist Church, a Sunday school teacher, and a volunteer in the local schools. An avid reader, Margaret Ann enjoyed gardening and was an enthusiastic amateur naturalist, studying birds and wildflowers, especially at the family farm near DeValls Bluff. She was devoted to her husband and three children, whose lives were enriched by her all she did. Margaret Ann was preceded in death by her son, John Paul Millar. She is survived by her husband, Paul; her daughter, Susan Millar Williams (Dwight) of McClellanville, S.C.; her daughter Cathy Woods (Tom) of Boulder, Colo.; her daughter-in-law, Anne Millar Williams of Mount Pleasant, S.C.; and her grandchildren Olivia Black (Jeff) of Hagerstown, Md.; Alex Woods of Seattle, Wash.; Emily Woods of Decatur, Ga.; Ryan Millar of Houston, Texas; Allison Millar of Hong Kong; and Paul Millar of Mount Pleasant, S.C.
