Joy Lynnette "Lynn" Perdue

JOY LYNETTE "LYNN" PERDUE, 63, died Friday, Dec. 9, at Baptist Health in Little Rock. She will be remembered for her intelligence, her wit, and her compassion for others. Lynn was a retired public school educator, having spent most of her career in the Pulaski County Special School District teaching Spanish and English. After her retirement, she worked briefly at Cokesbury, the United Methodist book and supply store in Little Rock. She was born in El Dorado, Ark., on July 2, 1953, and was raised in Smackover, where she attended public school. She received a Bachelor of Arts in Speech from Southern Arkansas University and a Master of Arts in English from the University of Central Arkansas, as well as completing many other courses in Spanish, Secondary Education, and Drama at SAU, UCA and the Romance Language Institute, Durango, Mexico. Lynn was an active member of First United Methodist Church of Little Rock, where she was dedicated to her PALS small group and where she supported other ministries of the church. She was also a member of Delta Kappa Gamma as well as several other professional associations. Lynn is preceded in death by her parents, Arnold J. and J. Marie Klippert Perdue, who had lived in Smackover, as well as her grandparents, several aunts and uncles, and many cousins. She is survived by her brother J. Randall Perdue of Lonoke, sister J. Beth Perdue of Perryville, niece Brandy Granger (Jason) of Ruston, LA, and two great-nephews, Caleb and Seth Granger, both of Ruston. She also leaves several extended family members and dozens of friends. A memorial will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 20, at 1 p.m. at First United Methodist Church of Little Rock, officiated by Revs. David Freeman and Donna Hankins-Hull.
