Alma Bernice Whitlow

Alma Bernice Whitlow passed away on Dec. 15 at the age of 87. Known to her many friends as Bunny or Bonnie, she was born on Oct. 22, 1929 to Kate Alma Holt and James Xenia Winfree. A resident of Lonoke County for much of her life, she first attended Oldham school in the Pettus community and then went to school in Lonoke. She married her sweetheart, the late Morris Monroe Whitlow on Aug. 1, 1946 when he returned from Army service in Europe and Japan. Bonnie said the best years of her life were spent raising their three sons, Ellis, Sam and Edwin. In later life she married Raymond Whitlow and lived for a brief time in California. In addition to her three sons; she is survived by two brothers, Bob and Tommy Winfree; four grandchildren, Alecia, Mark, Zachary and Jessica; as well as a great-granddaughter, Lauren. Her dear sister, Martha Lou predeceased her. The First Baptist Church of Lonoke will host visitation on Monday, Dec. 19. Visitation will be at 1 p.m. followed by services at 2 p.m. Burial will be at Sunset Cemetery in Lonoke. Boyd Funeral Home is handling the arrangements. Online guest book, www.boydfuneralhome.net.
