Betty Jo "Jody" Hammock Cogar, age 65 of Monticello, passed away Friday, Dec. 16, 2016 at her home. She was born March 23, 1951 in Monticello, Ark. to the late James Pell Hammock and Polly Pauline Gregory Hammock. She was the widow of Clint Cogar, co-owner and vice-president of CC Cabinets in Houston, Texas, a business that she and her late husband, Clint Cogar started. They began their business in a shed in their backyard, which went on to becoming a very successful and thriving business that ended up in a 7500 square foot facility. Jody was of the Pentecostal faith. In addition to her parents; and husband; she was also preceded in death by two brothers, Carl Edward Hammock and Bo Hammock; and one sister, Edith Kizer. Survivors include one son, Jerry L. Penick and wife Kelly of Leander, Texas; one grandson, Christopher Lee Penick of Austin, Texas; one granddaughter, Alexis Nicole Penick of Leander, Texas; two God-daughters, Penny Lee Williams and Mary Ann Black of Pearland, Texas; one brother, Harold Lee Hammock of Livingston, Texas; three sisters, Annie High, Helen Barnett and husband Collins, and Jenette Savage and husband Dewey all of Monticello; a special friend, John Hawthorne of Houston, Texas; numerous nieces; nephews; cousins; other relatives and friends. Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 20, 2016 at Stephenson-Dearman Chapel with burial to follow in Old Union Cemetery in Boydell, Ark.
