Claudie Sullivan Cantrell

Claudie Sullivan Cantrell, 86, died Sunday, December 18, 2016 at his home. He was born February 13, 1930 in Bald Knob a son of the late James Sylvester and Marion Sarah (Davidson) Cantrell. Claudie was a proud U.S. Army veteran, having served in the Korean War. He was the second generation owner of Cantrell Farms and Sawmill. Mr. Cantrell believed in the value of hard work and he instilled that character in his sons and grandsons. Honesty, integrity and generosity ruled his life. He served as deacon for many years before becoming a member of the Worden Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Willie Jean Cantrell; sons, Ricky Sullivan Cantrell and wife Cherry and Randy Cantrell all of Bald Knob; brother, William "Bill" Cantrell and wife Lucie of Atlanta, Georgia; sisters, Anna Sue Crum and husband Jarrel of Phoenix, Arizona and Lorene Mercurro of Phoenix, Arizona; three grandsons, Austen Michord Cantrell, Daniel Tyler Cantrell and Joshua Sullivan Cantrell; an honorary son, William Carroll Varnell and wife Pam of Bald Knob and an honorary grandson, Jacob Varnell of Bald Knob as well as a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Debbie Cantrell; sister, Pauline Levee; brother, James Sylvester Cantrell, Jr. Visitation will be Tuesday from 6–8 p.m. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 21, 2016 at 10 a.m. at the Powell Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Jerry Goodwin and Bro. Paul Bearfield officiating. Interment, with military honors, will follow in the Carter Cemetery.
