Shirley Jean Stone

Shirley Jean Stone, age 80, passed away on December 20, 2016 at her home in New Orleans, Louisiana. She was born on October 22, 1936 in Stuttgart, Arkansas. A lifelong member of Zion Lutheran Church in Ulm, Arkansas, she also attended Wabbaseka United Methodist Church in Wabbaseka, Ark. and Grace Lutheran Church in New Orleans, Louisiana. Shirley was an employee of Fairbanks-Morse and Co. in Stuttgart for nine years before marrying Paul Maylin Stone on February 23, 1963, and then lived in the Wabbaseka and Altheimer, Arkansas area for 52 years until moving to New Orleans, Louisiana in October, 2015. Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Paul, on June 10, 2002; her parents, Tom and Vernice Mason; one stepdaughter Melodie Hunter: and one stepdaughter-in-law, Charla Jo Stone. Survivors include one son, Kevin Scott Stone (Mark Diamond) ; step-sons, P. Michael Stone (Willadeen) and Christopher Stone; grandchildren, Chad Stone (Ashley), Hallie Stone Keen (Chris), Tanner Stone (Andrea), Lauren Stone Bracken (Brad), Shea Stone Rivera (Michael), Chandler Stone (Krystal), Heather Hunter Ford (Jason), Tiffanie Hunter Started (Richard) and Jamie Hunter; 26 great-grandchildren and many other relatives. Graveside Services will be 10 a.m., Tuesday, December 27, 2016 at Flat Bayou Cemetery in Altheimer with Ray Vester and Pastor Tom Smithwick officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Flat Bayou Cemetery Fund, c/o Lee Edward Taylor, 3808 North Gillian Road, Altheimer, Arkansas 72004 or any charity of your choice in her name.
