Donald A. Thompson

Donald A. Thompson passed away on Nov. 19, 2016 at the age of 75 in a Fort Worth, Texas, hospital from a chronic heart condition. Don was born Feb. 20, 1941 to Dr. Albert W. Thompson, M. D. and Mildred Caroline Weir Thompson in Little Rock, Ark. He is survived by sisters, Suzanne Thompson Gates (Bill) of McKinney, Texas and Leslie Thompson Henson (Dennis) of Clarksville, Tenn., three nieces and one nephew. He is also survived by four great-nieces and one great-nephew. Don attended Gurdon, Ark., schools for all of his public school education, graduating in 1959. He attended the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville. He then joined the United States Air Force and was sent to Syracuse University to study the Russian Language. He spent his four years in the Air Force as a Russian interpreter and was Honorably Discharged as a Staff Sergeant in 1966. He then attended LSU, graduating with a Bachelors Degree in Chemistry. He worked for several oil field service companies, including several years working for Dresser Industries in Russia. He then worked several years for General Dynamics in Arlington, Texas. He has worked the last years as a corporation mail courier for a private company. A graveside service will be held at a later date in Mount Comfort Cemetery, Fayetteville, Ark., under the direction of Moore's Chapel.
