Carl Richard Childress

Carl Richard "Rick" Childress Jr., 75 of Cabot died Sunday, December 25, 2016. He was born July 16, 1941 in the Hamilton Community, also known as Snake Island. He was raised by his loving grandparents, Vera and George Rouse and was very close to his Uncle Buddy, Aunt Sissy, Uncle Ralph, Aunt Sue and the rest of the Rouse family. As a young man he loved playing football and passed his love of sports to his children. Mr. Childress was a founder and past President of the Optimist Club in Cabot where he was instrumental in starting a youth football league. Mr. Childress is survived by his wife, Lucille Brown Childress; children, Carla Childress Greene (Dave) and their children, David, John, Katy and Connor Greene; Bryon Childress (Tammy) and their children, Kelsey (Weston) Dacus, Haley and Larkin Hatcher and Lynley Childress; Bradley Childress (Reden) and their children, Tyler, Blake and Natalie Childress; Todd Childress (Janie) and their children, Ellie, Abigayle, Gracie and Nick Childress; Ray Straschinske; Christine Rees (Barry); and Matt Straschinske (Chris) and their children, Brayden and Ethan Straschinske and Jonah and Eli Coleman. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, December 28, 2016 at Moore's Cabot Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home (501) 843-5816.
