Edward Campbell "Eddie" Green

Edward Campbell "Eddie" Green, age 86, of Malvern, died Saturday, Jan. 30, 2016 at Saline Memorial Hospital in Benton. He was born in Malvern on May 22, 1929 to the late Joe Lee Green, Sr. and Esther Campbell Green. Reared and receiving his early education in Malvern, he graduated Malvern High School in 1947. He proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corp from April 1952 until April 1954, serving one year and 15 days in Korea during the war. Eddie retired as Plant Foreman from Natural Gas Pipeline after 35 years of employment with the company. He was a lifelong member of First United Methodist Church. Eddie was the husband of the former Mary Anna Jones, to whom he was married on June 10, 1949. He was an avid ham radio operator KA5RRK and he talked to and sent and received cards from other hams all over the world. He served as president of Hot Spring County Amateur Radio Club for several years. After retirement, he enjoyed making a big garden each year and got lots of pleasure being able to share the fruits of his labor with others. He also loved music and playing guitar with friends and going to Branson. Heat sense of humor and loved telling stories and jokes. Eddie had great respect for and loved people and everyone loved and respected him. Even the little neighborhood children would come and ring the doorbell and ask if Mr. Green could come out and push them on the tire swing that he put up for them. He had so much patience and would take the time and effort to teach many young people to swim and water ski. He was so proud of his sons and loved doing things with them and for them, and the grandchildren were truly the light of his life. He enjoyed taking Zack and Matt to the river or park and even to McDonalds, and he treasured the tea parties with Juliet. A fellow employee said, "I never knew anyone that didn't like Eddie Green-he was a great man!" He is survived by his wife of 66 years; his children, John Green of Malvern and Jim Green and his wife, Cathy of Little Rock; grandchildren: Zack Green and his wife, Holly of Cordova, Tenn., Matt Green of Little Rock, and Juliet Green of Malvern; by a sister, Judy Englund (Richard) of Bellevue, Wash.; brother-in-law, Frank Dean of Little Rock; sister-in-law, Betty McGuire and Jim of Malvern; numerous nieces and nephews, and many friends. Eddie was also preceded in death by a brother, Joe Green and a sister, Carolyn Green Dean. The family will receive friends at J. A. Funk Funeral Home on Monday evening, Feb. 1, 2016 from 6 until 8 o'clock. Funeral services will be 1:30 on Tuesday afternoon, Feb. 2, 2016 in the sanctuary of First United Methodist Church with Reverend Bruce Bennett officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in the Oak Ridge Cemetery. Pallbearers will be: Kevin Jones, Bob Pearson, Jerry Petty, Rod Petty, Mike Green, David Hohrine, Carroll Lee, and Ken Martin.
