Norman Victor "Vic" Platner

Norman Victor Platner "Vic", 79 went to be with our Lord and Savior on January 30, 2016 at The Circle of Life Hospice Center in Bentonville, Ark. Vic was born on July 7, 1936 to Conrad and Catharine (Canode) Platner in Kendallville, Indiana. Vic served in the United States Navy from 1955-1959 and was in the Naval Band. He played over 12 instruments and loved his jazz and blues. He began his career with United Airlines in Fort Wayne, Ind. and moved to California to continue with United for over 35 years. He then moved to Arkansas in 1994 and met his wife, Barbara Platner (Pressly) and married her before she could get away. Vic enjoyed fishing, going out on the lake, playing golf and especially loved sports. Go HOGS! Vic is a fun-loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather and friend. He was kind, gentle and quite witty and will be truly missed. Vic is survived by his lovely wife, Barbara; sister, Anne (Jim) Binder; two daughters, Darci (Mark) Richardson and Stacy (Tom) Thompson; three step-children, Bob (Susan) Burckart, Jennifer (Matt) Estes, Bill (Shannon) Burckhart; 11 grandchildren, Braxton, Kyndal, Tyler, Catharine, Daniel, Brooke, Blake, Jordon, Jack, Pressly and John; three great-grandchildren, Gavin, Ella and Davis; and two beloved dogs, Foxy and Tubby. Vic was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Jane Kerns and brother-in-Law, Jim Kerns. A memorial service will be held at Concordia in Bella Vista as well as a memorial in Southern California.
