Marilyn Roberts Poole, 83, of Conway died peacefully on Wednesday February 3, 2016 at Elmcroft in Maumelle after a lengthy battle with Alzheimers. She was born March 8, 1932 in Vernon, Texas, the daughter of the late Ben Hill and Hattie Ruth Roberts. Marilyn was also preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Jerry Poole and her great-nephew, Joshua Hill Baxter. Marilyn grew up in Greenwood, La., with her sister, Ruth, and as a girl she loved to ride her horse, "Traveller". She graduated from North Texas University where she met her husband, Jerry D. Poole, who she married in 1953 and they had two children. Marilyn had a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education and worked as an elementary school teacher and later became a speech pathologist at Conway Human Development Center. She also graduated with two Master's Degrees in Speech Pathology, and specialized in communicative disorders. Marilyn also worked for the Arkansas Department of Human Services. According to a dear friend, Marilyn brought the party with her when she walked in the door. She loved people and enjoyed socializing with anyone she met. Marilyn would always greet you with a smile and she loved to sing and collect hats. Marilyn is survived by her daughter, Melinda and her husband, Jack, her son, Wallace and his wife, Valerie, seven grandchildren, Louis Poole, Toren (Adams) Roe and her husband, Chris, Eli Adams, Tyler Poole, Ariel (Adams) Bennett, Isaac Adams, and Olivia Poole, her sister, Ruth Berlin, nephew, Walter Jay Frank III, and her nieces, Kim Bartlett Huckabee, Leslie Bartlett Neeland, and Lillie Anne Inzina. A Memorial Service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, February 6th at the First United Methodist Church in Conway.
