Elton Jones

Elton Jones, 69, of Hot Springs, died Sunday, February 7, 2016 after a hard fought battle with cancer. Born Arthur Elton Jones October 30, 1946 in Pine Bluff, he was the son of Arthur Guy Jones and Marie Mathews Jones Berding. Mr. Jones was reared and received his early education in Pine Bluff. He served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. After his military service, Elton returned to Pine Bluff, where he worked in heating and air as well as working as an electrician for Russell Electric. He worked for over 25 years for St. Louis Southwestern Railway (now Union Pacific). He was a member of Jacob Brump Lodge 160 F&AM of Pine Bluff, where he served as a past master in 1978, and Robert E. Lee Lodge 313 F&AM in Altheimer. Elton fulfilled a lifelong dream of a house on the water in Hot Springs and retired on Lake Hamilton, where he could fish any time he wanted. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, H. Guy Jones; and sister, Gwyn Bivens. Survivors include his wife, Tommie Geis Jones, whom he married December 12, 1969 in Pine Bluff; daughter, Virginia "Ginni" Jones Grimes (Allen) of Redfield; sister, Beverly Jones Stone of Fort Smith; three grandchildren, Sarah Grimes Benson, Rebekah Grimes and Rachel Grimes; and several nieces and nephews whom he dearly loved. A memorial service, with Robert Stone officiating, will be 10 a.m., Friday, February 12, 2016 in the Chapel of Ralph Robinson & Son followed by Masonic graveside services at Memorial Park Cemetery in Pine Bluff.
