Mary Obera (Kega) Harvey Curtis, 95, passed away Saturday, February 6, 2016. She was born November 24, 1920 in El Paso, Arkansas to Verna Blassingame and Harvey Powell and Jewel Victor Harvey. After graduating from Little Rock High School, she worked at National Old Line Insurance Company until her retirement. She was a member of the American Business Women's Association, the North Little Rock Women's Club and the Salvation Army Auxiliary. She was a devout Christian and a member of Park Hill Baptist Church. Kega enjoyed traveling with friends and family. She and her husband traveled to Florida, Mexico, Spain, the West Indies, Switzerland, Hawaii and Rome. After her retirement, she took up oil painting: her favorite subjects were still-life with flowers. Kega was described as an "angel" by everyone who knew her. She was known for her kindness, generosity, compassion, her remarkable memory and her famous chocolate meringue pie. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 73 years, Thomas Malcolm Curtis and her brother, James Victor Harvey. She is survived by her niece Victoria Harvey of North Little Rock and Nantucket, Massachusetts, and Victoria's daughter and son, Gillian Brooks Page of Boston, Massachusetts, and Andrew Stewart Cromartie of New York City, New York. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law, Barbara Woodyear and Polly Norell of North Little Rock and their families. Memorials may be made to Park Hill Baptist Church, 201 East C Street, North Little Rock, Arkansas 72116. A visitation will be held 1 p.m. Friday followed by a funeral service at 2 p.m. at Smith – North Little Rock Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Pinecrest Memorial Park.
