Robert L. Hutcherson "Hut," 75, of Walnut Ridge, Arkansas left his earthly life Sunday, February 7th, 2016 at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri. He was born in Jonesboro, Arkansas August 18, 1940 to Rupert Leon Hutcherson and Namah (Floyd) Hutcherson. "Hut" attended Walnut Ridge High School where he graduated in 1958, he then joined the Arkansas National guard and attended Arkansas Military Academy. He went on to attend the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville as a member of the Kappa Sig Fraternity and graduated from Harding University in Searcy with a Bachelor of Science degree. On January 22, 1966 he married the love of his life Paula (Howard) Hutcherson. Upon graduation, his first position was Director of Black River Area Development which was instrumental in the beginning of the Head Start Program in Walnut Ridge and the surrounding area. He quickly became a pillar of the community. Upon the untimely death of his father, he assumed the role of owner and operator of Hutcherson Furniture. He was a board member of 1st National Bank in Walnut Ridge and of the Walnut Ridge Country Club. He had served on the Walnut Ridge City Council and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Walnut Ridge. He had a love of hunting, fishing and sports and became very active in the Walnut Ridge Pee Wee Football Program by coaching the "Cowboys." He was a Razorback Alumni Booster Club member, and always loved his Monday night poker game with "the boys." He was preceded by his father, Rupert Leon Hutcherson; his mother, Namah (Floyd) Hutcherson Gibson, and Step-father, George Gibson. He is survived by his wife Paula (Howard) Hutcherson of the home; his son, Rob Hutcherson and his wife Jancey of Little Rock; his daughters, Mrs. Holly Onstead and husband David of Jonesboro and Mrs. Kara Guinn and husband Drew of Paragould; He was referred to as "Dah" by nine very loved grandchildren, Ryan Grace Hutcherson, Sophie Hutcherson, Taylor Kate Hutcherson, Jonah Hall, Cody Onstead, Casey Flippo, Josh Guinn, Megan Guinn and Hutson Guinn. Visitation will be held Thursday, February 11, 2016 from 10 a.m. to 12 noon and Funeral Services to begin at 12 noon at the First Baptist Church in Walnut Ridge with Jake Guenrich officiating under the direction of House-Gregg Funeral Home of Walnut Ridge, Ark. Burial will follow at Lawrence Memorial Park Cemetery. Pallbearers: Matt Jansen, Rob Dixon, Heath Harper, Milton Smith, Will Floyd and Casey Flippo. Honorary Pallbearers: Jim Jansen, Bob Dixon, Jim House, John Purdy, Glenn Murphy and Eggie Tedder. In lieu of flowers the family request memorials to be sent to the Barnes Jewish Hospital Lung Transplant Program in St. Louis, First Baptist Church Youth Program in Walnut Ridge and Lawrence Memorial Park Cemetery.
