CHARLIE WARD JR., age 95, of Little Rock, Ark., passed peacefully on Feb. 7, 2016. He was born on March 3, 1920, the only son of the late Charlie Sr., and Earlee Dirvin Ward. He completed high school in Vox Populi, Texas. Charlie joined Church at an early age served and attended until his health begin to decline. He and his wife enjoyed farming, cooking, caring for others, and serving the community. Charlie believed and encouraged all to obtain the highest level of education possible and to work hard. He was a proud US Army, WWII Veteran who kept in contact with his army buddies until they passed. He is preceded in death by his wife of almost 50 years, Mary Childs Ward, grandson, Jason Rose, and seven sisters. Charlie is survied by his daughters, Shyrel (James) Lee, of Little Rock, Ark., and Phyllis "Tootie" McCullough, Los Angeles, Calif., grandchildren, Clayton Rose, Tyler (Seaboron) Dickson, Laura Wilburn, five great grandchildren, one great-great granddaughter, four sister-in-laws, two brother-in-laws, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Charlie was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend. Visitation will be Monday 6-7 p.m. at Serenity Funeral Home, 1851 Marshall Street, Little Rock, Ark. Funeral service will be 1 p.m., Tuesday at First Missionary Baptist Church in Harrell, Ark., Interment Childs Cemetery in Banks, Ark. Funeral services entrusted to Hammons Funeral Services 101 Elm Street, Warren, Ark. Local "Premium Care arrangements" Brown's Christian Funeral Service.
