Billy Thames Staton, 89, of Magazine, Arkansas, passed from this life on Monday, February 15, 2016 in Danville, Arkansas. He was born May 21, 1926 in Magazine Arkansas to Joe Leslie and Lucille (Hicks) Staton. He was a retired carpenter, and a member of the First Baptist Church in Magazine but attended the Old Union Cumberland Presbyterian Church. He was a member of the American Legion, Disabled American Veterans, Carpenters Union Local #71, the Cattleman's Association, Magazine Riding Club, and the Northwest Arkansas Cavalcade and was an avid Razorback fan. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, gardening and ranching. He is preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Frankie Ruth Staton; daughter, Billie Jane Staton; brothers, Samuel Leslie, Robert Earl, Joe Junior, and James Thomas Staton. Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m., Thursday, February 18, 2016 at the First Baptist Church in Magazine with burial in Ellington Cemetery in Magazine, under the direction of Roberts Funeral Home. He is survived by one daughter, Connie Ruth DeWitt and husband, Edward of Magazine; two sons, John Timothy Staton and wife Ruth Ann of Derby, Kansas and Billy Carlton and wife Teresa of Russellville; one sister, Nell Jane Ombruni of Conway, Arkansas; 10 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; other relatives and many friends. Pallbearers: Nathan Staton, Jimmy Staton, Barron McCormack, Chuck Lindley, Edward Pickartz, Dylan Lindley.
