Barbara Vandiver Johns, 85, went to be with Jesus February 20 while at Oakdale Nursing Facility in Judsonia, Ark. She was the wife of Rev. Harrison Johns. They shared 65 years together. Born in Little Rock, Ark., she was the daughter of Jim & Clara Vandiver. She graduated from Harrisburg High School in 1948, and from Arkansas Baptist Hospital School of Nursing in 1951. She was employed as an RN in Texas, Colorado, and Arkansas for over 50 years. She enjoyed an active life of love & laughter with friends & family, and was a leader in churches wherever she lived. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Harrisburg, and the Order of Eastern Star. She is survived by her loving husband Harrison Johns, formerly of Harrisburg; daughter Rebecca Williams (Phil) of Searcy, Ark.; son, Haynes Johns (Dave) of Chicago, Ill.; granddaughter Julia Williams of Searcy; sister, Margaret Brown (Doyle) of Jonesboro, Ark.; aunts, Mary Robinson of St. Augustine, Texas and Olive Tollett of Houston, Texas; sisters-in-law, Lois Johns & Edris Sloan, both of Harrisburg and Ann Fowler (Ray) of Easley, S.C., nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her brother Jimmy Vandiver. Visitation was held Tuesday, February 23, at First Baptist Church Harrisburg, Ark. from 1:30-3 p.m., followed by the memorial service at 3 p.m. Burial arrangements by Gregg- Weston Funeral Home, Harrisburg, Ark. Interment will be private. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Harrisburg, Ark.
