Gentry Gunnels

Gentry Gunnels, 80, of Magnolia, Ark. died Friday, Feb. 26, 2016 at his home in Magnolia. Gentry was born on Dec. 16, 1935, he served in the United States Army National Guard for eight years, was a member of the Village Baptist Church, and attended Western Baptist Church. He began his career as a mechanic at Franks and Gunnels Dealership, worked many years at Columbia Motors and retired on January 1997 from Ryder Systems, Inc. He is preceded in death by his parents Aubrey and Dessie (Jacks) Gunnels; son Rick Gunnels; grandson Brad LeNarz; and a brother Vergene "Gene" Gunnels. Gentry is survived by his wife of 50 years Dee Gunnels of Magnolia; daughter Debbie Holcomb and husband Todd of Maumelle; granddaughters Erin Prather and husband Blake of Carmel, Ind., Robyn Coles and husband Andrew of Maumelle; great-grandson Charlie Coles of Maumelle; and great-granddaughter Bailey Prather of Carmel, Ind. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, February 28 at Lewis Chapel with Bro. Tommy Parker officiating and assisted by Bro. Jim Brown. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Lewis Funeral Home, Inc. in Magnolia. Visitation will be Saturday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be James Eason, Jimmy Dickson, Rodney Chambers, Cotton Staten, Charles Rowe, and James Dees. The family requests memorials may be sent to CCAPS, P.O. Box 2003, Magnolia, Ark. 71754.
