James V. Newton

James V. Newton, 83, of Hampton died Thursday, Feb. 25, 2016 at Life Touch Hospice Center in El Dorado, Ark. He was born June 19, 1932 in Hampton, Ark. He was a member of Camp Ground Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Hampton and he had served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He is preceded in death by his parents, Robert Cleveland Newton and Mary Verna Tomlinson Newton; one son, James Carrol Newton; four brothers, Rex, Bob, Olen, and Jack Newton; and two sisters, Marge Daniels and Mollie Lou Nutt. He is survived by his wife, Onnye Priddy Newton of Hampton; three sons, Ricky Newton and wife Angela of Hampton, Danny Newton and wife Lisa of Hampton, and Bobby Newton of Hampton; two daughters, Cheryl Furr and husband Dallas of Hampton, Kristi Branch and husband Jim of Camden; daughter-in-law, Pam Newton of Hampton; 13 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews. Memorials may be made to Life Touch Hospice 2301 Champagnolle Road, El Dorado, Ark. 71730. Visitation will be Sunday 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Camp Ground Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Hampton. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Monday at Camp Ground Cumberland Presbyterian Church with Pat Newton officiating. Burial will follow at Camp Ground Cemetery.
