Randall Mathis age 85, of Arkadelphia, passed away Monday December 28, 2015 at National Park Medical Center in Hot Springs. He was born June 9, 1930 the fifth son of Earl C. and Vesta Herrin Mathis in Rusk County, Texas. He was a professional singer, owned an auto parts store, served four terms at Clark County Judge (1968 –1976), ran for Governor of Arkansas in 1978, Served two decades at the Dept. of Pollution Control & Ecology, retiring as agency director in 2000 at the age of 70. He was preceded in death by his son, Craig, six brothers and sisters and one granddaughter. Survivors are his wife of 66 years, Helen Mathis, daughter, Debra Lee (Gary) of Hot Springs, one sister, Gayle Owen (Roger) of Dallas; two grandchildren Jill Davis (Glen), Brooks Lee (Anne) all of Hot Springs, six great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time. Service will be Saturday, January 2nd at 11 a.m. at the Third Street Baptist Church with Bro. Bob Sanders officiating with burial at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to St. Andrew United Methodist Church or the Arkansas Kidney Foundation.
