Robert Cornelius Merkins

Robert Cornelius Merkins Jr., 81, of Jacksonville died Sunday, December 20, 2015. He was born June 11, 1934 in Fernwood, Pennsylvania to the late Norma Jean and Robert C. Merkins, Sr. Mr. Merkins was a lay-speaker in the Episcopal Church and was always willing to help anyone in need. He retired as a Master Sergeant from the United States Air Force after 21 years of service. Following retirement, Mr. Merkins worked in the hobby shop on Little Rock Air Force Base. In addition to his parents, Mr. Merkins was preceded in death by his sisters; Suzie and Sissy and brothers; Georgie and Beau. Mr. Merkins is survived by his wife, Ruth Ann Phillips Merkins, his son, Robert Kenneth Merkins (Karen) of Colorado, his grandchildren; Alex and Kara Merkins, his brother, James Merkins of Pennsylvania and his dog, Buddy. Graveside services will be 12 noon Wednesday, January 6, 2016 at Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery in North Little Rock.
