Loren Talbot Denton

LOREN TALBOT DENTON, age 97, of Little Rock died Sunday, Jan. 10, 2016, at Russellville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Russellville, Arkansas. He was born April 3, 1918 in Yell County, Arkansas to John Jacob and Edna Dowell Denton. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Sybil Orene Sorrels Denton; son, Richard Allen Denton; brothers, Lawrence, Dowell and Dale Denton. Survivors include his son, Paul Lee Denton and wife Bobbie of Mayflower, Ark.; daughter, Sherry Lynn Bullard of Little Rock, Ark.; sisters, Nell Denton Smith and Frankie Denton Casey and husband Bob, all of Russellville, Ark.; grandchildren, Rebecca Bullard, Lori Roberts (Allen), Carl Denton (Tara), Valerie Denton and great-grandchildren Ethan Roberts, Kaitlyn Roberts, Alex Denton and Jake Denton. He was of the Baptist faith, a deacon, and a long -time member of Immanuel Baptist Church in Little Rock, Ark. After graduation from Arkansas Tech in Russellville, Ark. Loren served his country in the army during World War II and fought on the foreign soils of Belgium, France and Germany, where he was wounded in action in early 1945 but survived to return to the front lines until the war's end. He then worked for 35 years in human resource management positions for Safeway Stores, Inc. and various branches of the federal government, retiring in 1980 from the Little Rock branch office of the Internal Revenue Service. Until his health declined, he was an avid collector of antique glassware, and achieved renowned status in the area as a collector/marketer of older fine china. He will be missed by many, and will always be remembered. Graveside service will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, January 14th, 2016 at Oakland Cemetery in Russellville, Arkansas by Humphrey Funeral Service. Reverend Don Erwin will officiate.
