J.B. Ethridge

J.B. Ethridge, 89, of Fordyce, died Tuesday, January 12, 2016. He was born November 21, 1926 in Ogamaw, Arkansas to the late Carlton and Bernice Ethridge. J.B. was also preceded in death by two sisters, Onie Mae Ethridge and Reba Robinson and one brother Marvin Ethridge. J.B. was a veteran of World War II where he served in Germany and in the South Pacific. During his professional career he worked for Sunbeam Bread and Wonder Bread companies for several years. He and his wife owned Friendly Foods for 10 years and was an alderman for the city of Fordyce for 14 years. He was a member of Beech Grove Baptist Church and the Men's Bible Class. J.B. is survived by his wife of 67 years Odessa Ethridge of Fordyce; a son, Tony Ethridge and wife Carol of Sherwood; one grandson, Evan Ethridge of North Little Rock; one brother, Carlton Ethridge and wife Carolyn of Grand Prairie, Texas; and many nieces, nephews, and wonderful friends whom he deeply loved. Visitation will be Thursday afternoon from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. at Benton Funeral Home in Fordyce. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. at the funeral home.
