Elaine Parker Tipton

Elaine Parker Tipton, age 60, of Dermott, Ark. passed away Thursday, Jan. 14, 2016, in Little Rock. Elaine was born July 12, 1955 in Dermott, Ark. to the late James Morris and Mrs. Geraldine Parker. She was a member of Dermott Baptist Church and was preceded in death by her father, James Morris Parker. Upon graduation from Montrose Academy she attended Arkansas Tech University where she lettered in 3-sports and pursued a degree in education and coaching. Following graduation she returned to south Arkansas to coach women’s basketball, softball, tennis, and teach at Bellaire Academy. She also taught at Montrose Academy where she also coached basketball and track. She taught at Dermott Schools where she also coached women’s basketball and softball briefly. She then moved to Drew Central Schools in Monticello where she has spent the past 15 years teaching special education. She loved spending time outdoors with her family hunting and fishing, attending her children’s, nieces’, and nephews’ sporting events, and recently spending time with her grandchildren. She is survived by her mother, Geraldine Parker; her husband, David Tipton; one son, Park Tipton and wife Maegan of Monticello; one daughter, Becca Greenwood and husband Jonathan of Possum Valley community; one sister, Suzanne Lilley of Greenbrier, Arkansas; and two grandchildren, Jonathan Brooks Greenwood and Lyla Tipton; numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. Visitation will be held on Sunday, Jan. 17, 2016 from 5-7 p.m. at Griffin-Culpepper Funeral Service in McGehee, Ark. Funeral service will be held on Monday, Jan. 18, 2016 at 11 a.m. at Dermott Baptist Church. Burial will be at Dermott Cemetery in Dermott.
