Waymon C. Nelms, 99, of Booneville, Arkansas died January 17, 2016. He was born March 21, 1916 in Waveland, Arkansas the son of David S. and Millie Ann (Southard) Nelms. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Waymon served for fifty years as a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Booneville and was a devout Christian who loved talking about Christ. A self-employed carpenter, Waymon built many of the of the houses in and around Booneville. He was known and loved by many and will be truly missed. He was preceded in death by his parents, David and Millie Nelms; his wife of seventy-three years, Lendell Dorothy (Bell) Nelms; several brothers and sisters; one granddaughter, Jackie; and one grandson, Robert. Survivors include two daughters, Lois Hill and husband Dallas of Booneville and Dorothy Crace and husband Ray of North Little Rock; six grandchildren, Carol Anderson and husband Kevin of Fall Church, Virginia, Steve Crace of North Little Rock, Alice Pugh and husband Mark of Cabot, Randy Strickland and wife Debra of Little Rock, Darrell Strickland and wife Georgette of Carlisle, Ann Brown and husband Tim of White House, Texas; several great and great-great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and church family. Pallbearers will be Gary Davis, Junior Day, Carrold Robinson, Jerry Oswalt and Cleatus Nelms. Honorary pallbearers will be Kit Parker and Dale Parker. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, January 20, 2016 at the funeral home. Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Thursday, January 21, 2016 at Booneville Funeral Service Chapel with burial at Paint Rock Cemetery north of Magazine under the direction of Booneville Funeral Service.
