Alton Franklin Bass

ALTON (AL) FRANKLIN BASS of Little Rock, Ark., passed away Jan. 21, 2016. Al was born in Strong, Ark. on Feb. 5, 1932–one of eight children born to Lonnie Bass and Addie (Morgan) Bass. Al married Dixie Garner in 1958. Al served our country as Corporal in the United States Marines. An engineer during the Korean War, he received several medals of honor including the Korean Presidential Unit Citation Medal. He served in the Hq 2nd Shore Bn, 2nd Marine Div, FMF providing ground amphibious forcible entry for naval forces. Al was a Member of the Order of the Eagles and the German-American Club. Al is predeceased by his parents and two grandchildren- Kyle and Vinnie. He is survived by his wife Dixie, of the home. Also remaining are three children, Keith Bass of Reno, Nev.; Lisa Kincaid (Mike) of Alexander, and Laura Henderson of North Little Rock; four precious grandchildren, Christopher Henderson, Dustin Henderson, Morgan Johnson and Shaye Williams. He is also survived by his brother David, six great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be at the Roller-Drummond Funeral Home in LR, Sunday Jan. 24, 2016 at 4:30 p.m. Arrangements are under the direction of Roller-Drummond Funeral Home with interment in Monroe, La.
