Melvin LeRoy Haney, 90, of Sherwood died, Saturday, January 23, 2016. He was born in Belleville, Arkansas to the late Reuel and Elsie Haney. He is preceded in death by his sons, Jerry Haney, Sr. and Melvin LeRoy Haney, Jr. and granddaughter, Tammy Haney. He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Linda Louise Johnson Haney; son, Stephen Haney (Patricia); daughters, Patricia Hoeffken (Charles) and Melody Dycus (Gary); 13 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; sister, Doris Murphy (Homer); and a host of family and friends. LeRoy attended school in England and Scott, graduating in 1942. He started working in the auto parts business in 1948. He and his wife owned and operated Haney Auto Supply for 44 years. He was a faithful member of Scott Pentecostal Church where he enjoyed playing the steel guitar. He also loved playing music with other talented musicians at the Hays and Evans Centers. LeRoy was a gifted story teller and had a great sense of humor. His life was blessed with much work, love, laughter, world-wide travel, and helping others. He was a caring, supportive and trustworthy husband, father, grandfather, son and brother. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, January 26th at Smith – North Little Rock Funeral Home. Services will be held at 1 p.m., Wednesday, January 27th at First Pentecostal Church in North Little Rock. Burial will be in Mulberry Cemetery in England.
