Delbert Junior Pickens, 87, of Austin, died Friday, January 22, 2016. He was born May 15, 1928 in Sandyville, West Virginia, to the late J.B. and Ethel Wilcox Pickens. Delbert spent the majority of his life on the East coast. He spent 4 years in the U.S. Navy and served during the Korean War, and he was retired after serving 47 years as an Assembly of God minister. He loved woodworking, nature, and traveling, and most of all, he loved to serve people and tell them about Jesus Christ. He is preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Gladys Constance Pottle Pickens; two brothers, Jack Pickens, and Charles Pickens; and a sister, Isabelle Haynes. Delbert is survived by his wife, Helen Madding Pickens; his children, Gail Angulo of High Point, N.C.; Robert Plant of Kansas City, Mo.; David and Beth Pickens of Castle Hill, Maine; Stephen and Sharon Pickens of Cabot, Ark.; Joseph and Debbie Pickens of Chambersburg, Pa.; Dwight and Laurie Pickens of Abington, Pa.; and Timothy and Jennifer Pickens of California, Md.; 23 grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be Thursday, January 28, 2016 from 6-8 p.m. at Moore's Cabot Funeral Home. Funeral service will be Friday, January 29th at 10 a.m. at The Bridge Church, 1800 S.
