Lee Alison Schoonover, age 69, of Ward, Ark., formerly of North Little Rock, awoke in the arms of his Lord & Savior on January 21, 2016. He is survived by his Mother, Frances Schoonover, Sister, Jane Droke, brother, Michael Schoonover (Anita), nieces, nephews, two great-nephews, great-niece, his "grandson." Justin Lee Shipman and many friends. Lee cherished his time as a mentor to many young people in his community introducing them to duck hunting on the Black River or fishing in ponds in the area. He expected one's best effort at all times. He took great pride in the accomplishments of all of his "kids" loving them each the same. Lee was an active member of First Baptist Church of Ward. Although retired for the Army Corps of Engineers, Lee remained active in his community serving as councilman for the City of Ward. The family would like to thank Dr. K. Jauss and staff, as well as Hospice nursing staff for their encouragement and compassion during this fight. Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, January 30, 2016 at First Baptist Church in Ward. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to First Baptist Church food pantry located at 208 Scott Street, Ward, Ark. 72176.
