Virgil Bryan "Jack" Perry, MD, 84, went to be with his Lord and Savior on January 25, 2016 in Blue Springs, Missouri. Born in 1931 in Fort Smith, Jack graduated from Little Rock Central High School in 1949 where he played varsity football and excelled in track. He graduated from the University of Arkansas in 1952, majoring in Chemistry and Mathematics. He attended the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences graduating in 1956. In 1958 he completed his internship and general surgery residences at Arkansas Baptist Hospital. After marrying his high school sweetheart in 1953, Jack and Gail Orton Perry moved to Pine Bluff where he practiced medicine for 52 years. His wife Gail, an RN, often helped him in the office. Jack served as Chief of Staff at JRMC and as an associate professor for UAMS, teaching medical students through the AHEC program. He was a licensed pilot and loved astronomy and photography. He also enjoyed umpiring for Little League Baseball. Jack was a veteran, serving in the Air Force Reserves. He was an active member of First Baptist Church, Pine Bluff, for 53 years where he sang in the choir and served as a deacon. Later he was a member of Noland Road Baptist Church, Independence, Mo. He was preceded in death by his parents, Sylvia Burton Perry and Jack C. Perry, and brother, Edward Perry. Survivors include his wife, Gail Orton Perry; daughter, Jana Stober (Gregg) and grandsons, Daniel & David; son, Dr. Paul Bryan Perry (Karen) and granddaughter, Margaret Elizabeth Perry McKissack (Michael); son, Brett (Valeriejean) and grandchildren, Kayla Elise and Cameron Seth Perry. Visitation is Friday evening, January 29th from 5–7 p.m. at Ralph Robinson & Son, Pine Bluff. Services are January, 30 at 10:30 a.m., First Baptist Church, Pine Bluff, followed by burial in Graceland Cemetery. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church in Pine Bluff.
