Troy Benton Seaton

Troy Benton "Skeet" Seaton, age 63, of West Helena, was born October 8, 1952, in Wynne, Ark. to Adrian Gordon and Eunice Harris Seaton. The family moved to Lexa and then to West Helena when he was very young. His all-consuming passion was playing drums. He began playing at the age of seven and continued until the Saturday night before his heart surgery on Monday with his band, Live Wire. He was inducted into the internet Rock-A-Billy Hall of Fame in 2011. Skeet retired as a captain after serving twenty years on the West Helena Fire Department and was inducted into the Arkansas Firefighters Hall of Fame in 2012, having served as president of the Arkansas Firefighters Association. He then returned to school to become a licensed barber and owned and operated the Plaza Barbershop until his death. He loved playing golf with his buddies and was a member of the West Helena Golf Association. He served as past president of the Helena-West Helena Noon Lions Club and was a member and drummer with the Seven Generals Camp 135 Sons of the Confederate Veterans. He was a long-time devoted member of the Scottish Rite and Lafayette Masonic Lodge, serving in all the offices, currently as treasurer. He was the author of the book about his music adventures. He was a devoted son, husband, father, brother, papaw and friend. He is preceded in death by his parents and a daughter, Niki Warren. Skeet is survived by his wife, Rose; sister, Donna (James) Jackson of Flora, Ark.; daughters, Kimberly (Travis) Williams and Krissy (Jason) Poe of Aubrey; sons, Troy (Danielle) Seaton of West Helena, Dorian (Michelle) Kettler of Lake City, Ark. and Jeremy (Renee) Kettler of Denver, Colo.; the son he never wanted, Henry Edgin; 11 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, and several cousins and many friends. A memorial service for Skeet Seaton will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, January 30, 2016 at Roller-Citizens Funeral Home. Visitation will precede the service from 1 p.m. until service time. Memorials may be made to the Masonic Lodge or the Fallen Firefighters Fund. Services will be directed by Roller-Citizens Funeral Home, West Helena, (870) 572-2571.
