Carl Gene Colburn

Carl Gene Colburn, 86, of Jonesboro passed from this life Thursday, January 28, 2016 at the Morningside Assisted living Center in Jonesboro. He was born September 29, 1929 in Egypt, Arkansas to the late Carl and Trellis Colburn. Carl lived most of his life residing in the Jonesboro area, where he was a member of Southwest Church of Christ. He had such a fun loving attitude throughout his life with his children and grandchildren. Carl loved the outdoors and going fishing in his spare time. Carl was also an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan and was a lifelong member of the Church of Church. In addition to his parents, Carl is preceded in death by his son: Randall Colburn; one brother: Darrell Colburn; and one sister: Inez Moody. Carl is survived by his wife Joy Colburn of nine years; Bonnie Colburn, the mother of his children; two sons: Terry (Marian) Colburn of Searcy and Rickey Colburn of Brookland; two sisters: Treva (J.R.) Kell of Searcy and Wanda (L.D.) Johnson of Jonesboro; five grandchildren: Sara Parker, Tara Wallace, Kara Spencer, Brian Colburn, and Tony Colburn; and eight great-great-grandchildren. A visitation will be from 4-6 p.m. Saturday, January 30, 2016 at Emerson Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Sunday, January 31, 2016 at Emerson Memorial Chapel with Randy Simpkins officiating. Burial will follow at Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery with Emerson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Active pallbearers will include: Rob Spencer, Jason Elms, Noah Elms, and Terry Smith.
