Ned L. Shively, born Jan. 15, 1925 in Decatur, Ill., passed away on Jan. 20, 2016, surrounded by loving family and friends. Son of Zelma and Kermit Shively, he attended the US Merchant Marine Academy in Long Island, N.Y. and subsequently served three years in the US Army. After 37 years of service Shively retired from Transamerica Insurance Company as the Vice President of Claims. Married to Joan Carter Shively for almost 66 years, they retired to Bella Vista, Ark. In 2011, they moved to C.C. Young Retirement Home in Dallas, Texas. They are members of Highland Park United Methodist Church and enjoy spending time with their 25 nieces and nephews in the metroplex area. A celebration of Shively's life will be held Jan. 30, 2016 in Parchman Chapel, Lawther West, at C.C. Young Retirement Home. "Well done thou good and faithful servant." (Matthew 25:21).
