Bill Helm, age 78, of Pearcy, left the confines of this earthly body and entered into his heavenly, pain free body with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on, Wednesday, July 6, 2016. Bill was born on September 9, 1937 in Malvern as Charles William Helm, the son of Ross Helm and Louise Phillips Helm. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Norman "Bootchie" Helm, Robert Helm and Ross "Buddy" Helm; two sisters, Mary Hahne and Martha Hester; one niece, Jordan Lewter; grandparents, aunts and uncles. His talents were too many to mention, but his profession was building water and wastewater treatment plants all over the State of Arkansas for 45 years. He was a United States Air Force veteran and was a jet aircraft mechanic and crew chief for Chuck Yeager. I called him my "Old Cowboy", because during his lifetime he rode bucking horses and bulls, and also he loved raising and riding quarter horses and raising cattle. He was a wonderful story teller that everyone enjoyed listening to. If you needed help, he was always there to do what was needed. There are too many Christian friends to mention, but you know who you are, and the love and support, and especially the prayers you sent to God on his behalf over the many years, will not be forgotten. Surviving this wonderful, good man is his wife of 29 years, Patricia Helm of Hot Springs; two sons; four daughters; six grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; three stepchildren; five step-grandchildren; two sisters; numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family members; and a very special friend, Rayann Lowthian, she called him, "Papa", and said he showed her what a dad should be. Services will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, July 9, 2016 in the Davis-Smith Funeral Home Chapel, Hot Springs, with Bro. Doug Fendley and Bro. Rick Collie officiating. Visitation will be held just prior to the service from 1 p.m. until service time. Interment will be in the Rockport Cemetery under the direction of Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Hot Springs. Pallbearers will be Joe Gardner, Tommy Ross, Arvin Booy, Pete Wilson, Buddy Midkiff and Chris Franklin. Honorary pallbearers will be Randy and Terrie Wright, Dr. Patrick Flaherty, CHF Clinic in Little Rock and the Little Rock Arkansas Heart Hospital second floor nursing staff. Guest registry is at www.davis-smith.com.
