Gary Wayne Wood, 67, of Cabot, passed away on July 5th, 2016, at Baptist Hospital after complications following surgery. A celebration of life service will be held at Geyer Springs First Baptist Church in Little Rock on Saturday, July 9th. Family visitation will begin at 10 a.m., with the service to follow at 11 a.m. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Martha Wood, and his brother, Jim Wood, all of Cabot. Gary was loved by many friends and family members. Those who now cherish his memory are his wife of 31 years, Jeanette Fureigh Wood and his daughter, Becky Benefield (Ryan); grandchildren, Parker and Olivia Benefield; sister-in-law, Kathy Wood; niece, Brandy Payne (David); brothers-in-law, Larry Fureigh (Jean) and Robert Fureigh. Gary graduated from UAMS in 1972 with a degree in pharmacy. He served as a pharmacist at City Drug in Calico Rock, Arkansas. After moving to Cabot, he was the owner and pharmacist of Wood Pharmacy for 23 years before moving to Fred's Pharmacy as pharmacy manager for 13 years. After retiring in 2013, he finally had more time for music, travel, and his interest in cooking. He loved God; he loved his family; he made many friends throughout his life. He played the saxophone for his church as well as Jubilation Jazz and Swing Band Reunion. His ministry to God was through his music. A few of his final days on earth were spent on a trip with Jubilation Jazz, spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ through music.
