Cameron Dodson, 95 of Magnolia, Ark., passed away on Saturday, July 9, 2016 at the John R. Williamson Hospice House in El Dorado, Ark. He was born on May 30, 1921 in the Macedonia Community in Columbia County, Ark. to the late Roy Stark Dodson and Ella Mae (Chisholm) Dodson. He took leave from his college pursuits to serve in the United States Navy during World War II. After the war, he completed his Associate of Arts Degree in Agriculture from Magnolia A&M and then went on to complete his Bachelor of Science Degree from Oklahoma State University. Cameron's roots run deep in South Arkansas agriculture. He has been involved in the chicken processing and egg business as well as being a major cattle producer in this region. He served as a board member for two local banks and was a charter member of the Southern Arkansas University Board of Governors and served as Chairman in 1982. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church where he served as an elder and was a 32nd Degree Mason. He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 69 years, Buddy Dodson; and an infant daughter, Carol Ann Dodson. Cameron is survived by a son, Mac Dodson and wife, Pat of Little Rock, Ark.; daughter, Susan Yerina Dees and husband, Johnny of Magnolia, Ark.; a brother, Rex Dodson and wife, Betty of Crossett, Ark.; five grandchildren: Laura and Jimmy Ritchie, Davis and Sara Dodson, Grace Dodson, Chad and Lea West, and Todd and Shela West; and six great-grandchildren. Visitation with the family will begin at 10 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church Fellowship Hall on Tuesday, July 12, 2016, followed by a memorial service at 11 a.m. with Rev. Mike Morgan officiating.
