Buford Joe McGehee, 92, of Star City passed away Tuesday at Gardner Nursing Center in Star City. He was born August 23, 1923 in Star City to the late Joseph and Marion Neva Cline McGehee. He was a member of Holly Springs Missionary Baptist Church and was a WWII Army veteran, serving in Patton's 3rd Army. He also served in North Africa, Sicily, Corsica, Italy, France, the Battle of the Bulge and Germany. He went to CCC camps in Colorado before the war. He had a passion for hunting and trapping. Also preceding him in death were a brother, Houston McGehee; two sisters, Lavon Manthe, Hazel Robertson and grandson, Joey Carr. Survivors include his wife, Alice V. McGehee of Star City; two sons, Buford Carl (Kathy) McGehee of Conway and Ronnie Joe (Lisa) McGehee of Star City; daughter, Beverly Aliceia McGehee (Donald) Carr of Star City; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Funeral services are 10 a.m. Friday at Holly Springs Missionary Baptist Church with Bro. J.C. Patterson officiating. Visitation is 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Griffin Funeral Service.
